What is Facilitation? Facilitation makes challenging meetings easier. We are called to facilitate when you are seeking:

  • A neutral guide
  • Equal and fair involvement from each participant
  • A unbiased perspective on an issue
  • Someone who can champion the process and not shape the content

Group facilitation is the art and science of managing group sessions in such settings as: strategic planning sessions, team meetings, problem solving, visioning, decision making, and conflict resolution situations.

What makes a Good Facilitator?

Good facilitators create an environment of trust in which group members share ideas, opinions, experiences, and expertise in order to achieve a common goal and/or vision.

Good facilitator's possess a variety of qualities and skills, such as:

  • The ability to recognize one's own biases while remaining neutral
  • Inspiring trust among group members
  • Possess innate personality traits such as listening skills, ability to read body language
  • Assertiveness, knowing when to speak up, holding persons accountable to agreed ground rules, providing feedback on staying with the agreed upon agenda and time frame
